Welcome to Saint Joseph Clinic's online health and wellness resources. Saint Joseph Clinic is a non-profit organization promoting whole health - that is, health of the soul, mind and body.

Most chronic diseases - conditions like high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, depression and anxiety, and certain cancers - happen because of inherited tendencies along with the lifestyle choices we make. We can't control our genetic inheritance but we can decide what we eat, how physically active we are, whether to use harmful substances, and shape our mental habits and relationships with others. While not every disease can be reversed, medication can be reduced and complications can be prevented through good self care.

Most doctors recognize the importance of health behaviors, but have little time to advise and coach their patients. Insurance plans are providing nurse lines and other healthy living resources to fill a gap. But the most valuable member of the health care team is YOU, the patient. If you are interested in being your own PRIMARY care provider, with a doctor's suggestions, this is the place for you.

This website will provide:

  1. Education - articles and surveys to help you know yourself, what your weaknesses and risks are, and what happens to your body or mind when you are ill.
  2. Tools - tips and techniques to help you build skills and habits that support your health and the health of those around you
  3. Support and Services - eventually support forums, coaching, and personalized medical advice may be added; in the meantime, advice on building your own supports will be available

We believe that sickness and death are part of the fallen world in which we live, so we do not expect to cure all cancer and other diseases so that mankind can live forever (as technocrats might hope). Instead, we want to help people prevent disease, cure what can be cured, and when there is no cure, maintain a certain quality of life and face a natural death with comfort, peace and dignity.

We believe that human beings are healthiest - mentally and physically - when they live according to natural design and God's law. Healthy habits, like virtue, have to be practiced and aren't always easy. But those things that are challenging are also rewarding, and help is given to those who are willing to help themselves.
